FORMER governor of the State of Osun, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, was on Wednesday evening harassed by members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who are supporting the governorship aspiration of Senator Ademola Adeleke.
Oyinlola was harassed at a popular hotel in Osogbo where he went to meet members of the committee that will conduct the three-delegate per ward congress of the party, in preparation for its governorship primary in the state.
OSUN DEFENDER gathered that Adeleke’s supporters accused Oyinlola of not supporting their favourite, just as they suspected the former governor of attempting to compromise the congress committee in a bid to scheme out Adeleke.
In a video watched by the medium yesterday, Adeleke’s supporters were seeing booing Oyinlola and members of the committee.
The shout of ‘Demola lafe (we want Demola), ole, ole (thief, thief) rented the air as the PDP members continued their harassment.
It was learnt that the committee could not continue its meeting because of the conduct of Adeleke’s supporters.
It would be recalled that the National Secretariat of the PDP had on Monday announced the constitution of the Ward Congresses Electoral Committee for the purpose of electing 3-Man Ad-Hoc Ward Delegates to the Special State Congress.
Members of the Committee are: Sen. Baba Tella, Chairman, Mukthar Shagari, Member, Nze Ozichukwu Chukwu, Member, Dr. Abiye Sekibo, Member and Barr. Nellie Ikpi, Secretary,
The congress which was scheduled to hold between Wednesday and Thursday in all the 332 wards of the state, could not hold because of the likely breakdown of law and order.
The Adeleke supporters also took to the streets yesterday to protest against Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, accusing him of destabilising the Osun PDP.
According to the party members, Makinde has been unduly interfering in the Osun PDP affairs, warning him to steer clear of the state.
