Senator Ajibola Basiru of Osun Central Senatorial District has sympathised with the people of Okuku in Odo Otin Local Government Area of the State over the robbery incident at a commercial bank in the town.
In a statement, Senator Basiru described the incident as very unfortunate at a time Osun is being singled out of the States in the Southwest for the peace and calmness enjoyed by residents.
“I received the news with a shock and unbelief. Osun is a peaceful state and Odo Otin Local Government is one of the indices of robust peace the State is enjoying. Armed robbery particularly bank attack is alien to the State due to efforts of successive administrations and current leadership at making the State secure.”
“I sympathise with the people of Okuku, Odo Otin Local Government, the State in general and particularly Governor Adegboyega over the gory incident. I was at Ora Igbomina at the weekend to reach out to victims of rainstorm not knowing another danger was lurking around in Okuku.”
Senator Basiru disclosed that the issue of security is the more reason he is working at ensuring that his bill on the Establishment of the State Police scale Legislative hurdles.
Commending the Commissioner of Police in the State for leading his men to engage the robbers, Senator Basiru charged the police and other security agencies to go after the robbers and gird their loins to secure the State better.
The Senator also charged residents of the State to help strengthen security by volunteering information to security agents and being their brother’s keeper in times of distress.
