‎‎Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has renewed calls for justice in the tragic case of 13-year-old Ochanya Ogbanje, who died in 2018 after years of alleged sexual abuse.

‎The abuse, reportedly committed by her aunt’s husband, Andrew Ogbuja, and his son, Victor, had sparked nationwide outrage and demands for stronger child protection laws.

‎However, in a statement on Thursday shared on her Instagram, Senator Natasha raised concerns that the alleged perpetrators had been discharged and acquitted by the court.

‎”Seven years ago, the heart-wrenching story of little Ochanya devastated me. I thought the perpetrators were in jail. Alas, they were discharged and acquitted,” Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan said.

‎The senator urged Ochanya’s family to submit a formal petition to her office, Room 2:05, Senate Wing, National Assembly Complex, Abuja, so she could take legislative action.

‎”For our children, I stand for justice for Ochanya,” she affirmed, acknowledging social media advocate #miss_natural1 for bringing the case to her attention.

‎The #JusticeForOchanya campaign has been revived on social media, with Nigerians demanding accountability and justice for the late teenager.
