Serving Corps Member In Kwara Allegedly Impersonate Judge To Defraud NYSC Boss In Osun

A serving member of the National Youths Service Corps in Ilorin, Kwara State, Mr Oluwatosin Medaiyese has been arraigned before an Osogbo Magistrate’s court for allegedly impersonating a State High Court Judge, Justice Aliyu Jimoh, to defraud the Southwest Zonal Coordinator of the NYSC, Emmanuel Attah.
OSUN DEFENDER gathered yesterday that Medaiyese, a 26-year-old initiated a text message with two different phone numbers where he presented himself as Justice Jimoh to talk to Attah.
It was learnt that Medaiyese had allegedly secured the redeployment and positing of corps members to their desired states and Places of Primary Assignment before his true identity was revealed.
Medaiyese was arrested and arraigned before an Osogbo Magistrate’s court by the Department of State Services (DSS) on Wednesday on a one-count charge of impersonation.
He was accused of committing the offence on or before January 30, 2020, in Osogbo, the capital of the State of Osun.
The offence was contrary to and punishable under Section 108 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol. II, Laws of Osun State 2002.
But, the accused person pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.
Defence counsel, Mr. Omaniyi Abifarin applied for bail of the suspect in the most liberal term.
Abifarin said Medaiyese would provide reliable surety if granted bail.
The magistrate, Mr Adebola Ajanaku granted bail to the accused person bail in the sun of N100,000 with one surety.
Ajanaku adjourned the case till March 25, 2020 for hearing.
