Outrage has trailed the alleged donation of N20 million by Seyi Tinubu to actress Sarah Martins, who reportedly violated Lagos State environmental laws during a charity outreach in Lekki, with many accusing him of empowering a lawbreaker.

Martins claimed the funds came from Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Noella Foundation, headed by his wife, Layla, after officials of the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) disrupted her food-sharing exercise and confiscated her cooking materials.

In an appreciation post shared on Instagram, Martins wrote, “My heartfelt appreciations to Mr Seyi Tinubu, @seyitinubu, the Noella Foundation, friends and associates of S.T for supporting the vision to feed less privileged kids. This money #20,000,000 will be judiciously put into acquiring a space where we can scale cooking to feed more people but most importantly in compliance with Lagos State Environmental laws and standards.”

The alleged donation sparked public criticism, with many accusing those involved of rewarding lawbreaking under the guise of charity.

Reacting to the backlash, Seyi Tinubu denied personally donating the N20 million, explaining that some of his friends, moved by compassion, raised the funds to assist Martins after her clash with KAI officials.

“I have been informed that some friends of mine, moved by compassion, raised funds to support a young woman who had an encounter with the law over an environmental violation,” he said on Instagram.

“Their intention, I believe, was to help her secure a proper space to run her business, not to undermine the law.

“I must emphasise that while their hearts were in the right place, I do not support any act that violates the laws of Lagos State. Lagos thrives on order, and Nigeria’s strength depends on our collective respect for both law and order,” he added.
