– Encourages them on Peace, Dialogue
Few days to the General Meeting of Osogbo Progressive Union OPU, the National President, Alhaji Kamorudeen Makinde, has urged members to shun violence, as peace and dialogue is the only way to successfully pad the association to growth and progress.
Alhaji Makinde said members should embrace the toga of unity and work towards the development of the association by seeks the greater good of Osogbo at all times.
This is just as he alleged of some sinister moves by some elements to frustrate the upcoming meeting with violence and cause avoidable litigation in the union.
Makinde, alleged that the individuals whose mission is to convert OPU’s assets to their private properties, have been restrained due to the moves by the current executives to expose them and their allies.
The OPU National President hinted that so far, moves to confiscate the properties have been challenged with stiff resistance by well meaning members of the association, stressing that no stone will be left unturned to ensure that all properties of Osogbo Progressive Union looted are recovered for the unfettered progress of Osogbo.
Alhaji Makinde noted that the union relying on a court order issued a 7-day quit notice to all tenants which caused an uproar from the affected tenants who expressed displeasure over the activities of these individuals who represented the union to swindle them of their money.
He said while efforts to challenge the illegal sale of the union’s land at Olonkoro to one person who is an Indigene of another town, members should remain peaceful and law abiding as nothing would be spared to retrieve all looted properties to the Union. He however added that the executives are also wiling to dialogue with individuals, who are ready to return its properties to OPU’s coffers without litigation.
The association also in two separate letters dated April 24, 2022, has warned Justice Kunle Adeigbe (rtd) to steer off the association’s activities and restrain from impersonating the executives.
It described the Retired Justice’s act as immoral of a person of his caliber urging him to stop.
Efforts however to reach Justice Adeigbe for his reaction proved abortive as he did not return calls or text messages sent to him as at the time of filing this report.
