Police operatives attached to the Assakio Division, working with local vigilantes, have raided kidnappers’ hideouts in Angara and Fadaman Bauna villages of Lafia East Development Area, Nasarawa State, arresting six suspects and rescuing three victims—two females and one male.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, told journalists in Lafia on Friday that the victims were unharmed, promptly treated, and reunited with their families.

He said the operation followed a complaint on January 7, 2026, that abductors had kidnapped two females in Angara village, leaving behind an infant, and later abducted a male from the same area.

“Acting on this information, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, ordered a manhunt for the perpetrators, which led to the successful arrest of the suspects and rescue of the victims,” Nansel stated.

The suspects have confessed to the crime and were transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.

Nansel added that the Commissioner of Police assures residents of Nasarawa State of the command’s continued fight against all forms of criminality.
