Six Men Remanded For Alleged Armed Robbery

An Osogbo Magistrate Court on Monday, March 12, 2018 remanded six men in Ilesa prison custody over alleged armed robbery.

The suspects include, Aderibigbe Kunle, 23; Basiru Soliu, 24; Saheed Umar, 25 and Akintayo Adekunle, 30.

Others are Kamorudeen Olofaina, 32; Akeem Adeniyi, 33 and Isiaka Lasisi 37.

The accused persons were arraigned before the court on a ten-count charge bothering on conspiracy and stealing.

The Police prosecutor, Inspector Oladoye Joshua told the court that the accused persons commited the illicit act between November 2016 and February 16, 2018.

Inspector Joshua stated that the suspects armed with guns and other dangerous weapons robbed Adeniran Lasisi, Akinsola Akinwumi, Olarewaju Rashidat and Ilesanmi Akinleye of their property.

He explained further that the stolen items included: LG TV, N80,000; DVD player, N7000, Elepa generator,  N60,000; Big bag pack and Nokia Asha mobile phone, N15,000; Samsung galaxy, N350,000 and a laptop valued N120,000.

Other stolen valuables were four wristwatch N44,002,566, power bank, N5000; HP rechargeable lamp valued N2000 and cash sum of N38,000.

The prosecutor said that the defendants did conspire among themselves to commit felony to wit armed robbery and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 6( b) and punishable under section 1(1) of the Robbery and Firearms (special provision) act cap R11 vol. 14 law of Nigeria.

Lawyer Okobe Najite appeared for three accused persons while Barr. Temitope Oyetope appeared for the third accused person (Saheed Umoru) and told the court that her client is facing one count charge before the court out of the nine-count charge.

He added that Saheed Umoru received a motorcycle suspected to have been stolen and urged the court to be lenient with him, pleading that he should be granted bail as his case is bailable in nature.

Magistrate Oloyade granted bail to the third accused person in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties and ruled that the remaining six accused persons be remanded in Ilesa prison custody

He adjourned the case till May 21, 2018 for mention.
