Six Nigerians Arrested For Alleged Drug Trafficking In Libya

Libyan authorities have arrested six Nigerians in Tripoli for alleged drug trafficking.

Osun Defender learnt that the suspects were nabbed after they were found with significant quantities of cocaine intended for distribution.

According to reports, the arrest was made by Libya’s Stability Support Agency’s Department of Investigation, which handed over the seized narcotics to Libyan authorities for further examination.

Migrant Rescue Watch, a humanitarian organization, also confirmed the development in a statement.

The suspects, consisting of one male and five females, have been referred to public prosecution for legal proceedings.

“Stability Support Agency—Department of Investigation dismantled a drug trafficking gang in Tripoli and arrested 6 migrants (1 male and 5 females) of Nigerian nationality. The accused were found in possession of large quantities of cocaine ready for distribution. All are referred to public prosecution for legal action,” the statement read.

This incident comes after two Nigerians were arrested in November by Libyan authorities in Sabha and Bani Walid on charges related to drug trafficking.

They were found with 1,200 hallucinogenic pills and other illicit substances.
