The Rivers State Police Command has exhumed the remains of the infamous cultist, Gift Okpara, also known as “2 Baba,” who was the primary suspect in the murder of former Divisional Police Officer Bako Angbashim in Odiemudie community, Ahoada East Local Government Area of the state, in September of the previous year.
This occurred just a week after the police announced the death of the feared leader of the Iceland cult during a coordinated security operation in the Idu-Ekpeye community in Ahoada East. However, some of his followers managed to seize his body and flee with it.
A police source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, revealed on Thursday that operatives raided loyalists of the deceased cult leader, who guided them to a remote forest where his remains were buried.
“The operation took place at midnight on Thursday, and his body was exhumed and taken to town,” the source stated.
A trending video, witnessed by our correspondent, captured the moment when operatives, illuminated by torchlight, were seen digging the ground in an attempt to exhume the decomposing corpse.
Meanwhile, our correspondent has learned that the state police command has scheduled a media briefing for 11 a.m. today, during which the details of the recovery of the late 2 Baba’s body are expected to be disclosed to journalists.
