Anambra State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nicholas Ukachukwu, has criticised Governor Charles Soludo over the rising cases of baby factories and illegal adoptions, blaming the situation on insecurity and the government’s failure to act decisively.

Speaking in an interview on TVC, Ukachukwu said insecurity had forced many industries in the state to shut down.

He said, “I see a lot of reports about Anambra on television, and it’s sad. My family and I own several factories, but insecurity has crippled many of them. Six of my expatriate workers were kidnapped, and since then, I had to close down operations. I used to have more than seventy people working there.”

He added that an aluminium company which was supposed to partner with him on a new project had also halted plans due to the insecurity in the state.

“We couldn’t continue production because the environment is no longer safe,” he lamented.

Ukachukwu accused the Soludo administration of failing to support security agencies, saying that such neglect has emboldened criminals.

“For more than three years, the governor hasn’t provided up to ten vehicles for the police, army, or DSS. How do you expect them to combat crime when other states are assisting their forces?” he queried.

He maintained that the poor handling of security had led to widespread unemployment and criminality. “When there are no jobs and businesses are shutting down, people become desperate. That’s why we’re seeing things like baby factories and land grabbing,” Ukachukwu stated.

Governor Soludo, however, reacted mockingly to the APC candidate’s comments during a campaign rally, saying, “Who advised him to appear on TV last night? His enemies are many. They keep pushing him to go on television.”
