Son Kills Father With Pestle Over Disagreement
The Police in Plateau State have arrested a 29-year-old man, Joseph Yakubu, for allegedly killing his father, Yakubu Dalyop, with a pestle.
The incident happened in the Anglo-Jos community, Jos South Local Government Area of the state.
A disagreement was said to have ensued between Yakubu and his father with the former said to have picked a pestle and hit his father during a disagreement.
This led to the victim’s unconsciousness and eventual death.
Yakubu was paraded among other suspects for various offences on Tuesday by the state Commissioner of Police, Hassan Yabanet, at the command’s headquarters in Jos.
The commissioner said, “On 20/02/2024 at about 6 pm, information was received at the Anglo-Jos division by a good Samaritan that on 15/02/2024 at about 8 pm, one Joseph Yakubu, male, 29yrs of Kambel Anglo-Jos had a minor misunderstanding with his father, one Yakubu Dalyop aged 49yrs.
“As a result, the son took a pounding pestle and hit the father on the head. The father became unconscious and was rushed to the Plateau State Specialist Hospital for medical attention.
“Unfortunately, he died on 19/02/2024 at about 1 pm while receiving treatment. The suspect has been arrested while the corpse was deposited at the same hospital mortuary”
The commissioner said the case was still under investigation and the suspect would be charged in court upon conclusion of the investigation.
