Southampton have completed the signing of Nigerian striker, Kazeem Olaigbe, from Anderlecht.
The English Premier League club handed Olaigbe and twelve teenagers two-year scholarships as part of their new intake of academy scholars.
Southampton made this known in a statement posted on the club’s official website on Friday.
The statement read: “A proportion of players have come through the club’s youth ranks, but, significantly, have been joined by a handful of young talents from other clubs, including Manchester City, Birmingham City and Anderlecht.
“The group were welcomed to St Mary’s earlier this month by Academy Director Matt Hale, who commented on the excitement surrounding the club’s newest crop of young players: “We are pleased to see so many of our Under-16 graduates become full-time scholars at Southampton. Many of them have been with the club for seven or eight years.
“They have all worked hard and developed through the Academy system really well.
“It’s testament to the quality of coaching staff we have here at the club, the environment they’ve created and the commitment shown by the boys themselves.
“Adding to that mix the several players who have joined us from other clubs means we’ll have a very competitive Under-18s squad next season.
“FIRST-YEAR SCHOLARS 2019/20; Sam Bailey, Teddy Davey, Jack Turner, Kgaogelo Chauke, Will Tizzard, Jayden Smith, Marco Rus, Oliver Wright, Zuriel Otseh-Taiwo, Matthew Hall, Ramello Mitchell, Sam Bellis, Kazeem Olaigbe.”
