It was a night when the return of star Shikabala should have hogged the headlines for Zamalek, rather it was their Nigeria ace Stanley Ohawuchi, who stole the show, ran riot and helped down the Enugu Rangers 4-1 in Egypt.
The team from Enugu simply played flat in the first leg of the 2nd round Championship League encounter, and failed to find any answer for the quadruple threat of the White Knights who harassed them all night long. The devastating runs by Ohawuchi, Hossam Salama, Ayman Hefni and Mostafa Fathi in Zamalek’s attack simply proved too much for the Nigerian champion.
The game was barely eight minutes old when Ohawuchi opened the floodgate of goals for the Egyptians. Hossam Salama made it two in the 29th minute, while Ayman Hefni increased the tally to 3-0 in the 34th minute.
