Stop Abandoning Party Secretariat, You Are Not IleriOluwa Faction Chairman – APC Group Chides Lawal

A youth group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Osun APC Youth Vanguard (OAYV), has cautioned the state chairman of the party, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal over his persistent neglect of the state party secretariat for party assignments.

The group noted the leadership of the party under Lawal has turned the personal office of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola to where party activities were taking place.

It said the trend was unbecoming, adding that the latest was the press conference held by the leadership of the party on Monday at the IleriOluwa House.

The group in a statement signed by its chairman and secretary, Nureni Olabamiji and Olawumi Temitope, said the action of the party chairman will further divide the party members.

According to the group, the party leadership should be working towards bringing all members together and not aligning with a faction within it.

The group said it noticed the trend of organising press conferences, programmes and other party events, that has to do with the party at the IleriOluwa House and not the party secretariat.

The group in the statement asked Lawal to “resign and be the head of the IleriOluwa faction of the party if he so desires to be a lackey of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy”.

The statement read in part, “The action of our chairman is unbecoming of someone saddled with the responsibility of galvanising an opposition party.

“The party chairman has totally abandoned the party secretariat and chose to organise party programmes at a personal building belonging to the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy.

“In as much as we don’t have any issue with our Minister who is one of our leaders in the party, as a group, we believe that doesn’t hold well for the unity of the party.

“If we want to win back the state in 2026, we need to come together as one and stop this divide and rule. The chairman owes it a duty to bring back the lost glory of the party and write his name in gold.

“But if he so desires to be one sided and abide by the direction of the Minister without thinking about the general good of the party, we advise him to resign and join the IleriOluwa faction where he can continue to be their leader without hiding his true feelings.”
