Stop Politicising Judiciary, Accept LG Verdict – Osun APC Tells Adeleke
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned Governor Ademola Adeleke to desist from politicising the judiciary and respect the recent Court of Appeal ruling that reinstated local government chairmen sacked by his administration.
In a statement signed by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, and obtained by Osun Defender on Thursday, the APC described Adeleke’s reaction to the court judgment as “a display of executive recklessness” and accused him of attempting to undermine the rule of law.
According to the statement, Adeleke’s refusal to accept the verdict was an indication that he and his allies lacked a proper understanding of democratic governance.
The party further stated that Osun State is governed by law, not as an extension of the governor’s family estate in Ede.
“The earlier Governor Adeleke understands that Osun State is a creation of the law and cannot be administered like a private family property, the better it will be for him,” the statement read.
The APC maintained that there was no legal basis for conducting new local government elections since the Court of Appeal had affirmed the legitimacy of the previously elected APC chairmen and councillors.

The party urged Adeleke to approach the Supreme Court if he was dissatisfied with the ruling rather than attempting to “manipulate public perception” and create unnecessary tension in the state.
“The judiciary has played its constitutional role in the local government election matter, and the judgment is binding on everyone, regardless of their political affiliation. If Governor Adeleke is not satisfied, he should seek redress at the Supreme Court rather than resorting to executive lawlessness,” the party stated.
The APC also dismissed allegations by Adeleke and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that the opposition was planning to incite violence in the state, insisting that APC members had been the real victims of attacks by PDP-sponsored thugs.
“Our members and supporters have been subjected to needless attacks by PDP thugs in various parts of the state since our chairmen and councillors won the court case. The governor should look within his own camp if he is truly seeking to prevent violence,” Olabisi stated.
The party called on parents and guardians to warn their children against being used as political thugs by desperate politicians, reminding them that the children of top PDP officials were safely living abroad while they encouraged the use of violence at home.
Reiterating that there was no vacancy in the local government councils, the APC stated that its elected chairmen were preparing to resume office and would not be deterred by threats or intimidation from the state government.
“It is shameful that Governor Adeleke, who himself became a beneficiary of the judiciary, is now treating the same institution with disdain simply because the latest ruling did not favour him,” the party added.
The APC urged Adeleke to respect the rule of law and allow due process to take its course, warning that any attempt to defy the judgment would amount to a violation of democratic principles.
