STUDENTS in Osun State have called on security agencies especially police to ensure adequate security in all tertiary institutions and their host communities across the state.
The students, under the aegis of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS)made the call during their visit to the state Commissioner of Police, Isyaku Mohammed, at the state police command, Osogbo, yesterday.
The students, in a statement by the Public Relations Officer of NANS ZONE D, Oluwadamilola Bamigboye, noted that the meeting with the Commissioner of Police was centred at ensuring their safety and well-being.
According to the statement, the commissioner of police, in his address, assured the students representatives of the police’s efforts to enhance security measures in and around campuses in the state, urging the students to report any security threats in their domains.
The statement reads: “A significant step towards enhancing the security of campuses and the host community in Osun State was taken today as representatives from various student bodies engaged in a productive dialogue with the Commissioner of Police.
“The commissioner assured the student representatives that efforts would be made to enhance security measures in and around campuses. He expressed the importance of a collaborative approach, urging students to report any security concerns promptly.
“As advocates for the rights and welfare of students, we will continue to monitor the implementation of these commitments and collaborate with relevant authorities to ensure the security and well-being of Nigerian students in Osun State.”
