Due to ‘alleged’ likelihood of violence and petition submitted against one of the aspirants in the 2024 Students’ Union Election, the management of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, has l suspended the planned Student Union Government election which was scheduled to hold today.
The decision was contained in an internal memorandum signed by the Registrar of the institution, Abiodun Oloyede, a copy obtained by Osun Defender.
The institution management noted that it is “currently reviewing the petition to ensure a fair and transparent electoral process. Further updates regarding the revised election schedule will be communicated to you as soon as possible.

“In view of the foregoing, the Management appreciates your understanding and patience during this time. You are all enjoined to remain calm and focused on your academic responsibilities.”
Following the indefinite suspension of the SUG election, some students have reacted on a general students’ platform of the institution, ‘OSPOLY GENERAL SUG PLATFORM’.
A student posted noted that “Ospolites are watching closely, Election will hold tomorrow. ISEC has the supreme power to do and undo!”
Another student stated that “Nah una wey dine and wine with management to install isec without notice and also sold form for 48hrs. Nah una still know how they suspend election .Chai when I remember ospoly water run away my eye ooooo (SIC).”
