The management of Osun State University, UNIOSUN, has silently increased the hostel accommodation fee from #80,000 to #135,000
Osun Defender sighted the increment was on the hostel accommodation portal of the newly admitted students.
Before the increment, the fee was pegged at #80,000, Osun Defender learnt.
Checks by our correspondent revealed that the fresh students are now directed to pay #135,000 for hostel accommodation.
Reacting to the increment in an exclusive chat with Osun Defender, a newly admitted student of the university, Rahmat Oyedele said the increment is a setback for her.
She lamented that she will not be able to attend the university again due to her parent’s budget.
Another fresh student who craved anonymity explained that: “If the school management is planning to do this kind of increment, they should have announced it officially and not silently because this has caused a lot of inconveniences for most of the school aspirants or newly admitted students.”
Also, a 300-level student of the university who does not want her name in print stated that the increment has created palpable fear in the minds of parents of fresh students, who have a lot of financial obligations to the school.
He urged the school management to announce developments such as increment before hand so parents and students can prepare ahead.
