SUBEB Holds Capacity Building Workshop For Quality Assurance Officers

In a bid to enhance qualitative teaching-learning environment in the state of Osun High schools, the state government has commenced a five-day capacity building for quality assurance officers across the state.
The programme was organised by the State Universal Basic Education, in conjunction with UBE, Federal Ministry of Education and ESSPIN.
This, according to executive chairman of Osun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Prince Felix Awofisayo is in recognition of the fact that highly skilled manpower is needed for the delivery of quality Basic Education both in urban and rural areas.
He added that the UBE Act of 2004 mandates UBEC to prescribe and monitor minimum standards in Basic Education in Nigeria and to a large extent, rest on the department of quality assurance and its counterparts at the state and LGEA levels.
He further explain that the administration of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola is strongly reforming the education sector in the state, particularly in elementary and middle schools, which form the foundation phase of educational growth and development across the globe.
He charged all participants to pay attention to the workshop so that they could implement the knowledge attained for the benefit of the various sectors which they represent.
In the same vein, Dr. Olaniran Olakulehin, former Zonal Coordinator, Quality Assurance, Universal Basic Education Commission said the training is coming up at the appropriate time so as to improve on service delivery, adding that service in education should have quality in terms of classroom practice and school management.
The Permanent Secretary, SUBEB, Alhaji Fatai Kolawole urged participants to be up and doing during the five-day workshop and they should see it as a good gesture from the government.
