Success Tip: Like Moses, Where Is Your Own Rod?

THE Bible and Quran are full of narratives which go beyond the mere face-value of the stories told. One of such is how Moses, or Musa, was called to rescue his people from the perilous hands of the Pharaoh in those days. It is a long story but at the end of the day, Moses actually rescued the Israelites from the armies of the King. God used the rod or staff in Moses’ hand as a tool to show His greatness.
Now, the question is: what little thing do you hold in your hand that God can use to liberate you and, possibly, your generation? How many of us really think that it is necessary to have something which can be made unique to us and through which we can change the world around us? Do you really know that you don’t have to have it big in the beginning, but you can turn that very little thing, like the rod of Moses, in your hands, into something so big that the whole world cannot contain?
I have a little true life story about a dedicated lady to share on the above. She was the secretary to a Professor in one of our universities. She was so dedicated to her job that she wouldn’t leave her seat until the Professor closes for the day, which in most cases, is late into the nights, despite her being a single mother. Her life revolves around the job. At a point, the Professor had to travel abroad, as part of his retirement terminal leave, to the United Kingdom. A friend to the Professor who happened to be a lecturer in one of the institutions in the UK happened to be desperately in need of a reliable secretary to replace his former secretary who just left his employment to be a full housewife. He shared his desperate need with his Professor friend who just arrived from Nigeria into retirement. The latter had no choice but to recommend highly his dedicated secretary to the former. To cut the long story short…she and her three children had their papers and flight tickets processed on the bill of the new boss to travel to the United Kingdom. She now lives permanently overseas and enjoys all the good lives which a gainfully employed person in the UK could boast of.
Now, the lesson in the above true-life narrative is that whatever you find your hands doing, do it well, be dedicated, go the extra miles and you would be surprised how the whole world would appreciate and even celebrate you and pay for your worth. You can relate this story to all dedications and even the success story of Mark Zuckerberg, born on May 14, 1984, in White Plains, New York, the co-founded the social-networking website Facebook out of his college dorm room. He left Harvard after his sophomore year to concentrate on the site, the user base of which has grown to more than 2 billion people, making him a billionaire and now the third richest person in the world. Amazing, at 34, in 2018 AD!
Now, my friend, what is that very small thing you are holding? I mean, your own “staff of Moses” that will propel you to life-long success? You can sweep very well? Do you know that one of the most paying jobs in the world today is janitorial service and multinational companies are in dare need of that dedicated person who will handle their cleanliness? All you need is to be organized, be technology savvy and there you go! Are you good at soccer? On this I don’t really need to say much; are you a good writer? Uhm…you are in for greatness as many are in need of people who can effectively communicate their ideas into good prose and will be ready to pay your fees.
What is that “staff of Moses” in your hand that you’ve not really recognized as such? The world is waiting for you to come and use it to “deliver them” from the hands of their “Pharaoh” and would not hesitate to pay your price.
But if you think you don’t have any, which is doubtful, seek for one. Create interest around it, start very small so that you can handle it and nurture it. Be creative. Study more on it. Apply modern technology to it where necessary. Do it free for people not because you don’t need the money but because you need to show to people what you can do it very well and with ease (smart marketing). When the Voice asked Moses about what is in his hand, he was not ashamed to mention it and even tell The Voice the rudimentary things he does with the Staff. He was proud of the staff/rod, and see how God used Moses, through the Staff to liberate a whole generation in history.
Lastly, let me add that there’s no single person, created by God, with whom He has not deposited at least one thing to change the world. Find yours now and begin to work on it. It is never, never, too late. The earlier the better, but the latter the faster because even at your advance age, you are filled with wisdom to fast track your success in that vocation.
