A suspected Boko Haram suicide bomber on Friday night detonated an explosive at a busy fish market in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State, killing at least 10 people and injuring seven others.

The explosion occurred at the peak of commercial activities in the popular evening market, which is usually filled with traders and residents.

According to security sources, the attacker disguised as a civilian and mingled with the crowd before setting off the bomb.

“The suicide bomber also died in the blast,” Makama stated.

“The Nigerian Army troops and emergency response teams were immediately deployed to the scene, and the injured victims were evacuated to a nearby medical facility for treatment.”

Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene, with lifeless bodies on the ground and others screaming for help as smoke filled the air.

The attack reportedly happened at a time when commercial activity was at its peak in the market.

Security sources told local reporters that the area has since been cordoned off by military personnel to prevent further infiltration by other suspected terrorists.
