Surety Remanded For Failure To Produce Suspect

A Magistrate Court in Osogbo presided over by Magistrate Modupe Awodele, has ordered that a surety, Olagunju Rasaq be remanded in Ilesha prison custody over his failure to produce the accused person he stood for a surety.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Oladoye Joshua told the court that the accused person committed the offence on May 28, 2018 at Chief Magistrate court ll in Osogbo.
Inspector Joshua said the accused person intentionally disrespected the court by conspiring with one Adebowale Gbenga being an accused person in a case of an unlawful possession of a vehicle in charge number MOS153C 2018 Commissioner of Police Vs Adebowale Gbenga.
Joshua disclosed that the accused person advised the principal accused person to abscond in order not to stand trial at the court of law.
He further stated that the accused person was on a bond of N300, 000 to be forfeited to the state government if he fails to produce the principal accused when needed in court, a duty he failed to honour.
The prosecutor added that the offence contravened sections 126(1) and 126(2) of the criminal code cap 34 vol. ll laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.
The accused who has no counsel pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against him.
In his ruling, Magistrate Awodele ordered the remand of the accused person in Ilesha prison custody.
The case was adjourned till August 7, 2018 for ruling on bail
