Suspected Cultists Remanded Over Death Of Two Persons In Osogbo

Two suspected members of Aiye confraternity have been remanded in Ilesa Correctional Centre by a Magistrate Court over the death of two persons in Osogbo, capital of the State of Osun.

The suspects, Yusuf Olamilekan (27) and Joshua Adenle (19) were accused of killing one Babatunde Olamilekan and Sarafadeen Azeez by using big stone to break their head.

According to the charge sheet obtained by OSUN DEFENDER yesterday, the accused persons were also said to have unlawfully inflicted machete cuts on the head of one Saka Quadri during a clash.

They were arraigned before the Osogbo Magistrate court on a five-count charge of conspiracy, murder, membership of unlawful society and breach of peace.

The accused persons committed the offence on February 20, 2022 at Latona area, Osogbo.

The alleged offence, according to the police, contravened Sections 516, 316, 320(1), 64 and 517 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol. II, Laws of Osun State, 2002.

But the plea of the accused persons was not taken by the court lacks jurisdiction to tried murder related case.

The presiding Magistrate, Adekanmi Adeyeba, directed the prosecutor to duplicate the case file and send it to the Ministry of Justice for Director of Public Prosecution’s advice.

He thereafter ordered that the accused persons be remanded in Ilesa Correctional Centre.

The case was adjourned till June 21, 2022 for mention.
