Suspension Didn’t Stop My Service to Kogi Central – Senator Natasha
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has said her suspension from the Senate did not prevent her from serving the people of Kogi Central.
Speaking at the flag-off of two smart market projects in Okene and Okehi local government areas, she stressed that her focus remained on grassroots development and inclusive representation.
According to her, the initiative is aimed at boosting economic opportunities for women and small-scale traders.
Each market will have 80 stalls—40 lock-up shops and 40 open stalls—fitted with solar-powered electricity, boreholes, modern toilets, power sockets, loading bays for trucks, and streetlights for security.
The markets are located at Ihima Central Market in Oboroke, Okehi LGA, and a new community market in Okene LGA.
She explained that the locations were chosen for their accessibility and growth potential.
“This project is just one of many constituency interventions we have lined up for the people of Kogi Central,” she said, adding that the markets would be completed and commissioned by November 2025 to mark her second year in office.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan restated her commitment to representing all constituents, regardless of political affiliation.
“I represent all the good people of Kogi Central at the Senate. Politics is for elections; after that, it is performance that matters—and performance must impact everyone,” she said.
Traditional rulers, youth groups, and other residents were present at the flag-off.
Some expressed support for the project and noted it could benefit small traders, especially women.
