Sylvester Oromoni’s Mother Dies
The Oromoni family has been thrown into mourning once again as Rosemary, the mother of late Sylvester Oromoni, passed away in November after a prolonged battle with a blood pressure-related illness.
Sylvester Oromoni, a 12-year-old student of Dowen College, Lagos, tragically died on November 30, 2021, in circumstances that sparked nationwide outrage. His parents alleged that he was bullied, beaten, and forced to ingest a chemical substance by five schoolmates, a claim vehemently denied by the school.
The tragic death of Sylvester led to a protracted legal battle, with the family pursuing justice against Dowen College and the accused students.
However, in April 2024, a Lagos court ruled that the young boy’s death was due to sepsis caused by an infection resulting from an ankle injury, exonerating the school and the accused parties.
The ruling, which attributed Sylvester’s death to parental and medical negligence, left the family devastated.

Rosemary’s health reportedly deteriorated following the legal setback and the emotional toll of losing her son under such controversial circumstances.
Family sources revealed that Rosemary struggled with intermittent health challenges, culminating in her untimely demise last month.
Her passing has reignited sympathy for the Oromoni family, who remain symbols of the quest for justice in the wake of the Dowen College tragedy.
Sylvester’s case had captured national attention, with many Nigerians demanding accountability for the alleged bullying and the subsequent handling of the matter.
While the court’s verdict brought the legal proceedings to a close, the emotional wounds for the Oromoni family remain unhealed.
