Tambuwal: APC Using EFCC To Silence Opposition – Sokoto PDP
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State has condemned the arrest of former governor and serving senator, Aminu Tambuwal, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
OSUN DEFENDER reports that Tambuwal, who governed Sokoto State for eight years and is a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, is being detained at the anti-graft agency headquarters.
He was taken into EFCC custody on Monday over alleged fraudulent cash withdrawals amounting to N189 billion.
In a statement on Tuesday, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Hassan Sanyinnawal, described the arrest as politically motivated and aimed at silencing the opposition.
The PDP accused the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government of using the anti-graft agency to intimidate political opponents while ignoring corruption allegations against its own members.
It called on its supporters to remain calm and urged anti-graft agencies to act impartially.
