The Taraba State Government, through the Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Development, has arrested a school teacher, Ahmadu Hassan for assaulting a young boy, Musa Alhassan.
The accused teacher, residing in the Saurara area of Jalingo, the state capital, allegedly inflicted various degrees of injuries on the boy, a situation which has continued to stir public outrage.
In a press statement made available to journalists on Friday in Jalingo, the Ministry expressed strong disapproval over the alleged inhuman treatment of the young boy and promised to take legitimate steps to seek justice for the victim.
The statement, signed by the Commissioner of Women Affairs and Child Development, Mary Sinjen, described the act as a gross violation of human rights and emphasized that such violence against a child would not be tolerated.
The statement also confirmed that the victim is currently receiving medical care in Jalingo, with the state government fully committed to ensuring his well-being. “His recovery is a priority for us, and we are closely monitoring his progress,” the commissioner said.
