Teacher, Five Others Paraded For Electricity Theft In Osun
The Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps on Monday, paraded a private school teacher, Patrick John and five others for allegedly tampering with electrical fittings at various areas in Osogbo, the state capital.
Other suspects are, Jaye Abayomi, Abidemi Enoch, Jackson Imukodro,
Adeleke Fatimah and Azeez Mutiu.
Parading the suspects at the command headquarters, Osogbo, the state Commandant, Sunday Agboola, noted that the suspects were arrested during a joint operation of NSCDC and the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) on October 13, 2023.
Agboola said despite a series of arrests made to
deter the public from tampering with electrical fittings, people of the state still engage in the act.
He said, “The command is dismayed. Despite several arrests made to deter the public from embarking on this illegal act, some have bluntly refused to desist from this act.
“NSDC will not rest on its oars until we see positive change in our state.”
The Commandant noted that the suspects will be charge to court upon completion of investigation.
He called on residents of the state to desist from acts capable of causing economic loss to the society at large.
Speaking with newsmen, John said he bypassed his meter because the person in charge of loading it was not available.
“Our terminal has spoiled and we have an agent who usually loads our matter directly for us but the person wasn’t available on Friday to load it for us, that was why I decided to bypass it.”
