Teachers Day: Nigeria Teachers Charged On Commitment

Nigerian teachers have been advised to discharge their duties diligently so as to satisfy their conscience in their profession.

A retired School principal, Elder Moses Ayanlowo drop this hint while discussing with OSUN DEFENDER on this year Teachers Day celebration in Osogbo capital of the State of Osun.

He gave commendation to all teachers across the world for impacting knowledge in children to be better persons in society.

He urged all stakeholders in education sector to play their roles effectively so as to prepare a better generation for the country.

He urged government both Federal and State to encourage teachers by paying all their dues as and when due, as well as other emolument for better performance.

The former teacher also advised parents to look after their wards especially for them to have rest of mind when departing from home to school especially higher institution.

According to him, “it is parent’s duty to always look and check their children in various school of learning and ask for their performance in class. As a good parent and mentor, child upbringing is very essential for the society to have peace” he added.

He wanted parents and guidance to always check on their children in school for them not to fall into evil hands.

In the same view, an academic and Tutor General of Osun Central Education District, Mr. Anthony Famoriyo appreciated government efforts and its impact so far in the education sector, while urging it to increase funding allocated to the sector.

He described teaching as a leader of all profession and teachers as builder of a nation and a person who is dedicated to its growth all the time.

He advised government to see to teachers care because of their importance in the society while stressing the need to encourage them more.

According to him,”we want government to treat teachers well in their salaries and allowances for them to meet up with their colleagues all over the world”.
