The Commissioner also debunked the rumour that it was silent on the recruitment exercise in a bid to manipulate the process in favour of PDP members.

He noted that the delay in the recruitment was because of some issues that the ministry was sorting out.

The commissioner, while promising that the recruitment will be based on merit added that successful candidates will be called for interview.

He said, “I want to tell you that before the schools resume for the next session, everything will be in place. The cut-off mark will soon be announced.

“I want to tell you that the recruitment exercise will be on merit. There won’t be any favouritism towards our party members.”

Meanwhile, the State Executive Council, on Wednesday further directed the conduct of interviews for applicants.

Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, after the meeting presided over by Governor Ademola Adeleke, said “The Council noted that the delay in the conclusion of the exercise was due in part to the protracted negotiations on the new minimum wage which has now been concluded and for which the state government has set up an implementation committee for commencement action.

“The Council further acknowledged the issuance of letters to teachers on the elongated service programme for which about two thousand beneficiaries have been issued letters of engagement, describing this as part of concerted efforts to bridge the staff shortage with the state school system,” the statement read in part.
