Teachers Recruitment: Osun APC Backing Fake Applicants Plan To Protest, Cause Mayhem – Group Raises Alarm
A group, Osun Democrats for Democracy (ODD) has raised the alarm over plots by some people who claimed to be applicants in the ongoing teachers recruitment exercise to disturb the peace in Osun through a staged protest.
The group said the intending protesters are ‘fake’ applicants being used by the opposition All Progressives Congress to cause problems in the state.
In a statement signed by the Chairman, Board of Trustees, Prince Ayelagbe Odetola, the group described the purported plan by the ‘fake’ teacher applicants as a proxy front by the APC to plunge Osun into another round of crisis and conflict.
The statement read, “As lovers of democracy, we bring to the attention of the public a new dangerous agenda by the APC to create mayhem. A non-existing group has allegedly written to the police to seek permission to stage protest against delay in the release of appointment letters to successful applicants for teaching jobs in the state.
“In another strange development, we learnt the police service has reportedly given go ahead for the protest to hold.
“We are worried that an unregistered association that is not known to the state or the law is organising a protest. It is even more disturbing that such an illegal group is reported to have secured police protection.
“We affirm that no applicant will form a group to fight his likely employer and even put his name on the press statement. The statement and the application for protest to the police are simply the handiwork of APC operatives.
“From all available facts, it is clear the said group is simply a political front by the APC. The development is a ploy to organise touts and thugs to unleash mayhem on the state and therefore provide pretext for the removal of democratically elected officials in Osun state.
“We call on the police authorities to deny approval for the fake group for such a protest as it is clearly a political move to start another round of political conflict in the state.
“We alert the Presidency to this new evil plot and seek the immediate intervention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to prevail on the police not to grant protest permits to the illegal group.
“The creation of that fake group and its extraordinary action of seeking a police permit confirmed a new attempt by the APC to disturb the relative peace that has returned to Osun state since the illegal invasion of the local government secretariats across the state.
“We are aware that the state government has just concluded the process of releasing letters to successful applicants in batches as earlier directed by Mr Governor and any attempt to plunge Osun into another round of crisis should be nipped in the bud.”
Meanwhile, Governor Ademola Adeleke’s spokesperson, Rasheed Olawale, confirmed that the appointment letters would soon be given out to successful applicants.
Olawale assured applicants and members of the public that the state government would always prioritise the education sector as it will shape the future of the younger generation.
