Teachers Recruitment: Osun Govt Denies Ordering Issuance Of Appointment Letters Over Fear Of Protest
The Osun State Government has debunked a report that the recent directive by Governor Ademola Adeleke, on the issuance of appointment letters to newly recruited teachers, was prompted by fear of protest or embarrassment.
A statement by the Commissioner for Education, Dipo Eluwole, on Sunday, claimed that the report was false, speculative, and deliberately misleading.
According to the Commissioner, the issuance of appointment letters is a policy-driven decision that emanated from the State Executive Council meeting held in December 2025.
He added that the state government did not act under pressure, panic, or threat of protest.
“The attention of the Osun State Ministry of Education has been drawn to a publication alleging that the recent directive by His Excellency, Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, on the issuance of appointment letters to newly recruited teachers was prompted by fear of protest or embarrassment.
“The general public should note that this claim is false, speculative, and deliberately misleading.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the issuance of appointment letters is a policy-driven decision that emanated from the State Executive Council meeting held in December 2025, as earlier stated by the Governor. It forms part of a structured, phased implementation plan for teacher recruitment, designed to align with fiscal responsibility, due process, and sustainability of the education workforce.
“At no point did the Osun State Government act under pressure, panic, or threat of protest. The narrative being pushed is an attempt to politicise an administrative process and undermine a well-documented reform agenda in the education sector,” the Commissioner stated.
The statement further noted that no applicant was instructed by the government to resign from any previous employment before receiving an appointment letter, adding that “such personal decisions cannot be attributed to government action or policy.”
