Ten British Citizens Named In Gaza War Crimes Report Handed To Met
Ten British citizens have been accused of committing war crimes while serving with Israeli forces in Gaza, according to a dossier submitted to the Metropolitan Police by a team led by prominent human rights lawyer Michael Mansfield KC.
The 240-page report, filed on Monday with Scotland Yard’s War Crimes Team, alleges the involvement of the Britons in targeted killings of civilians and aid workers, indiscriminate attacks on hospitals and civilian areas, forced displacement of Palestinians, and assaults on protected sites including religious and historic monuments.
Due to legal constraints, the identities of the accused have not been revealed.
The evidence, compiled by experts on behalf of the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights and the Public Interest Law Centre (PILC), documents alleged crimes committed between October 2023 and May 2024.
Mr Mansfield, known for his work on the Hillsborough disaster and Grenfell Tower inquiry, said, “No one is above the law. In the last 18 months, we have witnessed international crimes unfold. Our leaders have done little if anything to prevent the suffering of millions of innocent Palestinians.
“We ask the War Crimes Team to take this report seriously, investigate, and if proven, arrest and try the individuals named. British nationals are under a legal obligation not to collude with crimes committed in Palestine.”
Eyewitness testimony in the dossier describes disturbing scenes including mass graves, mutilated bodies, and alleged torture.
One witness recalled seeing bodies “scattered next to each other,” unable to identify family members beneath bloodied blankets.
Another described how their father, husband, and children were forced to strip before being beaten with electric cables and a billiard stick.
A third witness detailed corpses strewn across a hospital courtyard and claimed a bulldozer desecrated a body by running over it.
Paul Heron, legal director of PILC, said, “Shockingly, British citizens have actively served in Israel’s armed forces, directly contributing to atrocities. As a law centre based in Britain, we have a duty to stand up. We’re filing our report to make clear these war crimes are not in our name.”
So far, 94 legal and human rights experts have signed a letter backing the call for a full investigation.
Israel has denied all allegations of war crimes in Gaza, where more than 50,000 people—mostly civilians—have reportedly been killed since the conflict escalated.
