Tension As Turaki-Led PDP, Wike’s Faction Schedule Meetings At Party Secretariat
Two factions of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, may clash on Tuesday, over the control of the National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza.
The Kabiru Tanimu Turaki-led faction and the expelled members of the party, loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, scheduled important meetings at the Secretariat on Monday.
Members of the Wike-led faction, who were expelled from the party recently, earlier announced an emergency meeting to be held at the National Executive Council, NEC Hall of the National Secretariat.
The factional National Secretary of the party, Samuel Anyanwu announced the emergency meeting barely 48 hours after their expulsion.
However, in a dramatic turn of events, Dr Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, who was recently elected as the National Chairman of the main opposition party in the just concluded National Elective Convention in Ibadan, announced another meeting in the same hall.
Turaki spoke on Monday evening, addressing journalists after submitting a petition at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in Garki against the expelled members.
