Tension In Ile-Ife, Modakeke Over Death of 5 Farmers

Tension has gripped residents of Ile-Ife and Modakeke of the State of Osun, following the killing of five people at Toro Village.

OSUN DEFENDER gathered that the deceaseds, who were said to be farmers were attacked by yet-to-be-identified assailants at the wee hour of today.

The corpses have been taken away by the police, it was gathered.

OSUN DEFENDER learnt Modakeke indigenes have been protesting the death of their kinsmen, a situation that has been generating tension in both Ile-Ife and the Akoraye town.

Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Police in the State of Osun, Mrs Yemisi Opalola, said policemen have been deployed to the two towns to forestall breakdown of law and order.

Opalola said information as to what led to the death of the deceased was still scanty, appealing to the indigenes of Ife and Modakeke to calm their nerves.
