An indigenous creative culture magazine, The Moveee, has announced the launch of its maiden print edition.
The issue, themed Conscious Art, according to its management, intends to amplify the ongoing conversations around the cultural and political importance of art in contemporary society.
Tope Akintayo, Editor of the Moveee Magazine, noted that Conscious Art explores the purposeful efforts of the creative industry in archiving, documenting, amplifying, challenging, and ultimately transforming the experiences of contemporary humans.
He stressed that the edition also attempts to answer important questions; “What is the role of the creative in a crumbling world? How is the creative industry adapting to the ongoing shifts in culture, tradition, norms, values, and policies in all aspects of society?,” through interviews and portfolio spotlights and colourful print.
Akintayo added that some of the creatives personalities working with the magazine are: Matthew Eguavoen (Nigeria), a pilot Amanda Kandawire-Khoza (South Africa), who makes fun in creativity, Obibini Kobby (Ghana) – Photographer, Xaadim Bamba-Mbow (Senegal), Prof. Kithaka wa Mberia (Kenya), who will add value to the brand.
He explained further: “And beyond that, into the realisation of the significance of art in its many forms as an instrument of change, a megaphone heralding the realities and echoing both the vices and virtues of human society.
“This is only the first issue of the magazine, subsequently, the team intends to forge further into the celebration of African and Black diaspora creative efforts.
