The Legal Officer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State of Osun, Mr. Adegoke Ogunsola has said that the National Executive Council (NEC) of the party has not given indication on the holding of congress of the party in the state.
Ogunsola who spoke during a radio programme, alongside some other executive members of the party on Monday, dismissed the rumour that there was a petition against the Osun APC Chairman, Prince Gboyega Famodun by some members of the party in order to get him removed.
According to Ogunsola, as quoted by Mr Kola Olabisi, the Media Consultant to Famodun, there was no iota of truth in the speculation, adding that it was a mere figment of the imagination of those spreading the falsehood.
“The State of Osun Executive Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described as a rumour the Information that the state chairman of the party, Prince Gboyega Famodun, has been removed through a petition allegedly written to the National Executive Council of the party.”
Olabisi in a press statement said: “The state APC Legal Officer, Barr Adegoke Ogunsola, who was the spokesman of the representatives of the party state executive members at the programme said, though the party’s National Executive Council has the right to hold a state congress whenever it deems fit, but there is no information or message to that effect yet.
“The impression being spread by some busy-body members of our party, in collusion with some disgruntled members of the opposition that our party is split into both Governor Adeboyega Oyetola and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola camps is a ruse, without any foundation, as there is nothing like that either now or in the foreseeable future.
“As far as we know, there are neither camps nor any petition forwarded by anybody from our party against the chairmanship position of the incumbent
“The NEC of our party has the constitutional right to hold the state congress whenever it deems fit. But the NEC has never given an indication to hold such a congress yet.
“It is part of the duties of the NEC of our party to organise such a congress”, the state legal officer of the Osun APC explained.
