The new Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Osun, Michael Adaralewa has vowed to deal decisivley with any criminal element and any act of terrorism in the state.
Adaralewa spoke on Friday during an interview with newsmen in Osogbo.
He noted that from his observation, the state is one of the most peaceful states in the country and pledged to ensure that the people enjoy continued peace.
“Where I am coming from, I try as much as possible to cooperate, coordinate and collaborate with other security agencies and that really helped us in the area of security.
“I know they also have security forum here and automatically, I have no choice than to key into it and to bring on board all the ideas that can strengthen the security architecture in the state,” he said.
The commandant, however, warned criminals to vacate the state or be dealt with.
“I have charged my officers to prepare for real tough time against vandals, bandits, kidnappers and act of terrorism in the state.
“We are prepared to really deal with criminals decisively and we are sending this warning signal to them that they should vacate the state.
“We will not sit down and fold our arms for any of them to operate. We will not give them breathing space, this is our promise,” he said.
Adaralewa said that proactively, he would be deploying his men to worship centres on Friday and Sunday to provide security for worshippers and ensure that there was no attack on them or the religious centres during their service.
In the area of protecting critical national assets and infrastructure, the commandant said operatives of the command would be providing 24 hours surveillance as well as carry out regular patrol to safeguard the assets.
“We will deploy officers and men to all the critical national assets within the state, so that we will have zero vandalism of Federal Government property and utilities.
“In the area of disaster management, I have also charged my officers to make our ambulances available 24 hours every day, in case of any emergency, so within the stipulated response time, we are there proactively,” he said.
He thanked President Bola Tinubu for approving continuous recruitment into security agencies and called on Nigerians to work with security agents to nip criminality in the country in the bud.
