Thousands Protest in Tehran Over Iran-Israel Conflict
Thousands of Iranians staged a massive protest in Tehran on Friday, June 20, voicing strong opposition to Israel amid the escalating conflict between the two countries.
The demonstration followed Friday prayers and saw participants chanting slogans supporting Iran’s leadership, as shown in footage broadcast on state television.
“This is the Friday of the Iranian nation’s solidarity and resistance across the country,” a news anchor declared during the coverage.
Protesters carried portraits of Iranian commanders killed since the outbreak of the war with Israel, and waved flags of Iran and Lebanon’s Hezbollah.
One banner read, “I will sacrifice my life for my leader,” in reference to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
State media reported that similar demonstrations took place in other cities, including Tabriz in the northwest and Shiraz in the south.
