Three Children Allegedly Killed By Mentally Unstable Relative In Ondo
A community in Okitipupa, Ondo State, has been thrown into mourning after three children from the same extended family were allegedly killed in a tragic domestic attack on Tuesday.
The victims were reportedly attacked with a machete inside their home, leaving residents in shock over the disturbing incident.
Those killed were identified as a female student enrolled in the Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) programme, her young cousin, and another boy believed to be the biological son of the suspected attacker.
According to preliminary information gathered from residents, the suspect, said to be a male relative of the family, was believed to have been mentally unstable before the incident.
A distraught resident said, “Three children from the family of Baba Agbaye were brutally murdered in a shocking and tragic attack.
“The victims include a female student in JUPEB and two young boys.
“Among them were Baba Agbaye’s biological daughter, the son of his elder brother’s child, and the biological son of the suspected attacker.”
The resident said the entire community has been left in disbelief following the tragic development.
Sources familiar with the incident said Baba Agbaye, his wife, and their youngest son had gone to their oil farm earlier on Tuesday.
They were said to be returning from the farm when they reportedly met the suspect on his way towards the Ayeka area.
A resident said, “When they met him and questioned him, he claimed he was coming from Baba Agbaye’s house.
“They were unaware that he had already carried out the act.”
The bodies of the victims have since been deposited at the State Specialist Hospital.
Authorities are expected to begin investigations into the circumstances surrounding the killings.
Residents described the incident as a heartbreaking loss, not only for the affected family but also for the entire community.
“This tragic incident has left the community in shock and mourning,” the resident said.
“May the souls of the departed rest in peace. We are mourning deeply.”
