Three men were on Wednesday, remanded by a Kano Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly sodomising 11 underage boys.

The defendants, Uzaifa Rabiu, Aminu Ahmed, and Mohammed Bello, all residents of Jakara Quarters, Kano, were charged with an ‘unnatural’ offence.

The prosecutor, Amina Baba, told the court that the defendants committed the offence between October 2023 and February 2024 at Jakara Quarters, Kano.

The defendants were said to have deceived and lured the 11 victims to their houses in Jakara Quarters, Kano, and sodomised them.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 284 of the Penal Code.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Defence counsel, Dalhatu Usman, urged the court to grant his clients bail according to Sections 35 and 36 (5) of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution, as amended.

The bail application was, however, opposed by the prosecution, which argued that the charges against the defendant were serious and urged the court to dismiss the application.

Chief Magistrate Auwal Yusuf-Suleiman ordered that the defendants be remanded in a correctional facility and adjourned the matter until March 28 for a ruling on the bail application
