Tragedy struck on Tuesday at Kofar Bai Quarters, Birnin Kudu Local Government Area of Jigawa State following the collapse of a building, leading to the death of three teenagers.
The Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Police Command, DSP Lawan Adam, confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday.
“On Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at approximately 00:05hrs, Ahmad Isah of Kofar Bai Quarters, Birnin Kudu LGA reported to the Birnin Kudu Division that on September 9, 2024, at around 23:50hrs, a room in his residential house collapsed.
“Upon receiving the tragic report, a team of police officers was dispatched to the scene,” Adam said.
He noted that the police, in conjunction with a good samaritan, launched a rescue operation and were able to evacuate seven individuals.
He added that when the victims were rushed to the hospital for treatment, three were confirmed dead.

“The victims were quickly transported to Birnin Kudu General Hospital for medical attention.
“Upon arrival, the attending physician confirmed that three of the seven victims had passed away,” Adam said.
He listed the deceased as Khalifa Ahmad, 13; Tijjani Ahmad, 12; and Rabiu Ahmad, 12, all from the same address.
According to him, the bodies were handed over to the family for burial according to Islamic rites, while the other four victims are currently receiving treatment.
