ONE of the promises made to the people of Iwo, the Headquarters of Iwo Local Government by Governor Ademola Adeleke during his campaign ahead of the 2022 governorship election is to site the Communication campus of Osun State University in the town.
Adeleke made the promise in July 2022 during his campaign visit to Iwo.
The Governor was quoted as saying,“I promise to locate the College of Communication in the Osun State University in Iwo; this will improve options of students and also contribute to the economy of the ancient town.”
But almost three years into his administration, Adeleke is yet to site the varsity campus in the town as earlier promised.
Reminding the Governor of his promise in a press release made available to OSUN DEFENDER by the Ta’awunu Human Rights Initiative (THURIST) Nigeria and signed by its Director General, S.A Tadese Esq., the group appealed to Governor Adeleke to take prompt action for a ground breaking occasion which would see a take-off of the project, adding that every promise kept by the government is a pathway for an all inclusive government.
“The Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke’s administration’s infrastructure development agenda, evident in several project flag-offs, would not only bring dividends of democracy to the doorsteps of citizens but also bring them closer to the government.
“Every promise kept by the government is a pathway for an all inclusive government.
“While it is appreciable that the present administration in Osun State promised to site a campus of the Osun State University in Iwo to further his quest for development of Iwoland and the state at large, not a step has been taken to ensure it’s actualization.
“As a concern Human Rights Organisation, the development of every nooks and crannies of the state is topmost on our priority list and we are using this medium to call the attention of Governor Nurudeen Jackson Ademola to take a prompt action for a ground breaking occasion which would see a take-off of the project.
“We are not oblivious of the administration’s effort kick-starting the dualization of a certain major road in Iwo.
“It is our belief that accomplishing the already sited campus of the Uniosun in Iwoland will add more to the score card of the Adeleke-led Administration in iwo in particular and Osun State in General,” the press release reads.
