Tragedy occured in Agasha, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State as three members of a family lost their lives after being struck by thunder during a heavy downpour.
It was learnt that the incident occured at about 4 pm on Thursday while the victims were returning from their farmland.
Confirming the incident, Paul Unande, a member of the community said that those killed were two girls and a six-year-old-boy.
He said the victims were in the farm when it started raining and as they made their way back home in the rain, thunder lightning struck and killed three of them.
As to be expected, the entire members of the community were thrown into confusion as residents wore mournful, solemn looks gazing into space as the enormity of the sad event sank in.
The deceased whose remains were recovered have since been deposited at the mortuary.
As at press time, the Police spokesperson Kate Anene, a Superintendent of Police, could not be reached for comments as her telephone was switched off.
