The Kwara State chapter of the Take-It-Back (TIB) Movement has announced plans to hold a peaceful protest on Thursday, July 10, to demand immediate government action over the rising cases of killings and kidnappings in the state.

In a statement signed by its State Secretary, Olumoh Ismail, the group decried the worsening security situation in parts of Kwara North, especially Edu and Patigi Local Government Areas, and Ifelodun Local Government Area in the South.

The group alleged that terrorist groups and bandits have taken over vast forest areas and major highways, where they abduct and kill innocent residents without consequence.

“It is no longer news that people are being slaughtered in their homes and on the roads, yet no single perpetrator has been brought to justice,” the group stated.

The TIB Movement called on all “well-meaning Kwarans” to join the peaceful protest and put pressure on the state government to restore safety and security.

“Kwara State branch of Take-It-Back movement uses this moment to call on all well-meaning Kwarans to rise and protest the killings of our people in the northern and southern parts of the state.

“Terrorist groups and bandits have taken over most forests and highways in Kwara North, particularly Edu and Patigi Local Governments, and also Ifelodun in the South, where a series of kidnappings and killings have taken place in the past few weeks. Yet, none of the perpetrators has been apprehended.

“In the light of the above, we call on all Kwarans to stand up and make their voices heard by the state government to secure the state. Join us on July 10 as we march to make our voices heard.

“We reiterate our commitment to stand with all oppressed and fight against oppressors,” the group added.
