Tight Security As Kano Lawmakers Begin Bribery Allegation Probe Against Ganduje
There was tight security at the Kano State House of Assembly on Thursday as a committee set up by the Assembly to probe the bribery allegation against Governor Abdullahi Ganduje prepares to meet the publisher of Daily Nigeria.
The publisher, Jafar Jafar, is expected to appear before the seven-man investigative committee today to provide more information about a video clip published by his website, allegedly showing the governor receiving bribes from contractors.
Security was beefed up for the meeting with several police vehicles parked around the Assembly.
At the Aminu Kano International Airport, through which the publisher is expected to fly in, security personnel were also stationed to receive him.
The Assembly had set up the committee on October 15 to investigate whether the video, which went viral upon publication, was authentic or not.
The Kano State government has since denied the suit and announced that it was taking legal action against the publisher.
