President Bola Tinubu has appointed Barrister Ismael Ahmed as the Executive Chairman of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGi).
The announcement was made on Friday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Barrister Ismael Ahmed as the Executive Chairman of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGi),” Onanuga said.
He explained that Ahmed “will coordinate the operations of the presidential initiative, which is designed to alleviate the effects of removing fuel subsidies by offering cheaper, more affordable, and cleaner energy options.”
Describing the initiative as part of the administration’s palliative intervention programme, Onanuga highlighted Ahmed’s educational background.
The 45-year-old, he noted, graduated from the University of Abuja with a Bachelor of Laws degree in 2005 and was called to the bar in 2006 after completing studies at the Nigerian Law School.
“He later obtained a master’s degree in international relations, communications, and diplomacy from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri, in 2008,” Onanuga added.
Before this appointment, Ahmed served as Senior Special Assistant to former President Muhammadu Buhari on the National Social Investment Programme from 2018 to 2022.
