Tinubu Appoints New Heads For NLTF, NDE
President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Mr Silas Agara as the new Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment.
Tinubu also approved the appointment of Mr. Tosin Adeyanju as the new Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund.
This was contained in a statement on Saturday by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.
NDE
Agara, the newly appointed head of NDE is an entrepreneur and sports administrator who previously served as the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State.
He succeeds Nuhu Fikpo, who former President Muhammadu Buhari appointed in May 2021.
The President anticipates an “overhaul of the NDE for optimal performance in designing and implementing programmes to combat mass unemployment.”
The NDE was established in November 1986 and began operations in January 1987.
It was meant to address the effects of the economic recession of the 1980s, which led to a profound drop in capacity utilisation and consequent outright closure of industries in Nigeria.
NLTF
Adeyanju, the newly appointed head of NLTF, succeeds Bello Maigari, who former President Muhammadu Buhari reappointed in March 2023.
The President described Adeyanju as “an accomplished administrator, and good governance advocate.”
Tinubu said he expects the new Chief Executive Officer to “ensure transparency and efficiency in the operations of the agency to actualize the objective of the NLTF as a driver of good causes in Nigeria.”
The National Lottery Trust Fund was established under section 35 of the National Lottery Act 2005 by the Federal Government of Nigeria to facilitate national development.
