Tinubu Approves Tenure Extension For NIS Boss Kemi Nandap
President Bola Tinubu has approved an extension of Mrs. Kemi Nandap’s tenure as the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).
Nandap, who began her career in the NIS on October 9, 1989, was appointed to the role on March 1, 2024, with an initial tenure set to end on August 31, 2025.
However, following the remarkable progress made in key areas under her leadership, the president has decided to extend her tenure until December 31, 2026.
In a statement issued on Monday, by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, it was highlighted that the NIS has witnessed significant advancements under Nandap’s leadership.
These improvements include enhanced border management, the modernisation of immigration processes, and strengthened national security measures.
President Tinubu expressed his appreciation for Nandap’s dedication to her role, noting the positive impact of her work on the nation’s security and immigration systems.
The president reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the NIS in fulfilling its mandate to protect Nigeria’s territorial integrity, as well as ensuring safe, legal, and orderly migration.
He also urged Nandap to continue her efforts in driving the strategic priorities of the service, which are aligned with the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
